I had a friend like him, that scene when he starts trying to remove all of his concealed weapons was like watching my buddy, the movie cracks me up.
Most hilarious western I’ve EVER seen!
Wild and wacky comedy, almost in the old-time vein of anarchic, surreal 1930s comedy. Owing to its tv-movie status, and the time-period it was made, it probably never really got the credit it deserved. But it’s a beautifully insane gem. The only real flaw I recall is that it went on just a little bit too long. You can’t maintain ‘wacky’ for too long. If its running time was more like 75 minutes, it would have really perfect.
In all honesty, I’ve actually long prefered “Evil Roy Slade” to “Blazing Saddles.” And “Slade” was even first.
I saw that about 40 years ago. Silly but funny. I mainly remember the scene where he goes to a fancy party back east with a string quartet playing. He holds a gun to the cello players head and tells him, “Play that fiddle right, there’s ladies present!”
I have this on DVD, one of my all time favorites.
“There better be a stick of dynamite on page 12!”
“Never trust a pretty girl, or a lonely midget.”
“If you had six apple and your neighbor took three of them, what would you have?”
“A dead neighbor and all my apples.”
Greatest. Movie. Ever.
Thank you!
