I thought that in order to register a motor vehicle, it had to have the state minimum level of insurance. If and when that insurance lapsed, the insurance company would immediately notify the DMV, who in turn would alert the authorities who then would move to find it and get it off the road.

So what's the your point? If the guy is in the country illegally, does he really give a crap if his truck is legal?

The cops don't have checkpoints to catch every uninsured/unregistered vehicle. Like most other crime, they only catch them for that 'after the fact.'

There was an incident here in Pittsburgh a number of years ago where the cops just happened to spot a construction truck on an interstate hauling a trailer that was held on by freaking duct tape!

The occupants were all illegals. I never heard what happened to them, but I'd bet they are still here undercutting American wages.

I am not giving the illegals a pass, if that’s what you mean.
