For some strange reason, Jerry Lewis is some sort of comedic genius, ........in France.

One never hears about any terrific German comedians, for some reason.

Let's not imply that Germans are lacking a collective sense of humor, now. After all, they're big fans of David Hasselhoff. There's something innately funny about that, no matter how you look at it. ;-)

Also, the Germans have the oddest New Year's tradition. Apparently, they always broadcast a short comedy film called "Dinner For One" to ring in the new year. I saw it for the first time back in the '80s when HBO used it as filler material. It's like equal parts of Benny Hill and Foster Brooks.
