‘Godfather’ mansion hits the market for $2.89M

A piece of American cinematic history is for sale again.

The Staten Island estate where “The Godfather” was filmed is back on the market for $2.89 million.

It looks sort of ordinary, maybe a little nicer than most.

The house isn’t all that remarkable, but it’s large, famous, and presumably in good shape. But the thing is, the price isn’t all that much, for any house in the Manhattan suburbs with that much room in it.

I know, $2.89 million is a lot of money. But if you start looking around NYC for a large house, you will find that it shrinks to just about nothing.

Apparently the owner remodeled the inside to resemble the interior sets used in the film. He knew what the selling point would be that’s for sure.

The AC wall unit sticking out of that second story window looks really cheesy on that mansion. You would think they’d throw in some central air for your $2.89 million.

Not exactly what I would call a mansion or an estate. 6300 sq feet and 8 bedrooms on 1/2 acre. It's a big house on a small lot.

I didn’t realize it was over 6000 square feet. That probably would qualify as a mansion but the lot is pretty average at least for a house that large.

In the movie, it had gates and a humongous back yard, where Mrs. Balboa got married. It also had a parking lot area in front, where all the cars were parked during the wedding. I don’t see any of that.

Maybe its just me, but there is no way in Hell I’d live in a famous house like this. Think of all the nutjobs who you’re going to find in your driveway or peeking in your window in the morning.
