Putting them on the campaign trail sounds like they’re pawns in someone else’s game. I’m sure you didn’t mean it that way, but it may have been better to ask whether Cassidy’s campaign should invite them to join in the runoff efforts.

My opinion is that it kinda smacks of tokenism. I think Cassidy’s team should invite anyone and everyone that they think can be helpful to his campaign, regardless of race or sex. If that includes Love, Scott and/or Hurd, great.

The Democrat in the runoff for Bill Cassidy's former House seat is a convicted felon.

Many Louisiana voters and black voters may not realize this.

Appealing to some of the blacks should be in the Republican game plan.

Jeb Bush's son George P. Bush is Hispanic, and he does appeal to the Hispanic voters. I don't know if he won the Railroad Commission seat he ran for...
