HELP....ASUS laptop power connection pins failing.

no battery anymore (well...dying now)....any suggestions....tech guy says (after soldering once) that it is unrepairable.....trying to save files right now....help

Help....looks like I may have to buy a new laptop or a tablet....but, hoping this pin thing can be resolved....as everything else is fine on this laptop

If soldering isn't fixing the problem, a more drastic measure would be to order a new (or used) motherboard. Depending upon the laptop, you might be able to pick one up cheaper than a soldering job.

Also, you don't need to panic about getting your files off of the computer. You can pick up a USB hard drive adapter from Best Buy that will allow you to remove your notebook hard drive and connect it via USB to another computer, allowing you to get your files off of it.

In every city, there are plenty of cell phone/laptop repair places around that can fix/replace broken charge pins.

Why so many companies have gone to these cheap bendable pins in their phones and laptops is beyond me.

But there are plenty of places springing up to fix them.

I got that same bullshit story when the power connector came loose on the board on one of my laptops.

1.Carefully take apart Laptop (google it, i’m sure there is a video or instructions on the net)
2. goto store (radio shack,frys..) and buy a soldering IRON, and a solder sucker and some solder wick as well as some good electronics solder.
3. remove old power adapter plug from board and replace, part is $1 Dollar at All Electronics in Van Nuys, Ca.

you could do the entire job for $40 and fix yourself if you are a little handy.

over the years as many desk computers were on their last legs, I had the hard drive pulled and put in a stand alone unit so my data was accessible as I upgraded. (when the host computer had bit it's last byte and not able to let me transfer easily).

Cord doesn’t fix it....it’s on the motherboard....where the problem is

On my Asus, the power plug is on a separate small circuit board. I have replaced the board 3 times myself. The part is cheap on eBay and YouTube has step by step videos on how to do it.
