On an August day in New York City, Shoshana B. Roberts was harassed 108 times by her definition.
The whole thing was caught on video by Hollaback, an anti-street harassment advocacy group, and edited into a two-minute public service announcement. Clad in jeans and a black T-shirt, Roberts walked around New York for 10 hours following filmmaker Rob Bliss, who had a camera hidden in his backpack.
One man says Hello, good morning, then follows Roberts for five minutes. Another says, Whats up girl? How you doin? When she doesnt respond he reprimands her: Somebodys acknowledging you for being beautiful.
It goes on.

I wouldn’t have allowed him to pace me either. I would have turned around and told him to get lost. However, she is claiming she was harassed 108 times and other than McCreepy tracking her, what was harassing?
As a woman, I’m not trying to say we should have to endure unwanted attention.
I wonder if there was a sign somewhere (hidden from camera view) which encouraged this behavior.
10 hours!?
Those shoes don’t look very comfortable.
Most women can write a book about what they have experienced with the behavior of men. I have come to accept most of the behavior as pure instinct in the males...if they were not always on the hunt, we would not survive as a species. Some men cannot control themselves, others are more subtle. Women know this, and many accept the chase as a compliment if it is not out of control, dangerous, or inappropriate.
Well darlin’, I love pistol packing babes(my wifey is one).
My only question is, do you conceal it in your short shorts or in your boot tops????
Oh crap, incoming, hide!!!! LOL
Not Fun,,,,
I’m calling bs on this. First, she’s not all that. Second, watch at the :50 mark. The guy is in front of her so can’t see her but turns around to comment. Unless he has eyes in the back of his head, he was coached. Notice, too, how racial biased it is. I’m betting a lot of those blurred faces are the same dude. Yes, it is a total crock.
My Star .45 goes in the purse and my Bond Arms .45 Derringer goes wherever I have room for it. I typically carry both of them.
Hate to see her go, but love to watch her leave...
lol
this again! it’s not a compliment. The guy ( the catcaller) is a tool. and the guys who think we should put our hair up, cover our shoulders, dress in a burka? KING of tools.
I am amazed at how many folks think this is just a ok.
I’m done. PS No I am not fat ugly or a lesbian which has also been suggested on this forum, if you don’t love being catcalled. By women to boot!
Meh, the women here walk around in their underwear all the time. (Ft. Lauderdale and Miami)
Heck, they get out of bed and go to the mall in whatever they had on. Not saying classy, but not much left to the imagination.
It’s 55F and raining right now. While I certainly have underwear on there’s also a lot more on top of it!

She fell out of the ugly tree and hit every branch on the way down.
the story is contrive.
108 instances (very broadly defined, but others discussed that) over 10 hours? That’s 1 every 5.75 minutes while trolling for comments in one of the most densely populated areas on Earth.
Ya know, it might help if society established a protocol for polite complements rather than threatening “full extent of the law re: harassment”, splitting potential commenters into two camps, one of “ain’t sayin’ nothin’ or I’ll get in trouble”, the other “crossing the line, might as well go long with it”.
Is it really so bad to appreciate beauty?
“As an older woman in my 50s, Im still a sweet young thang to gentlemen in their 80s, ‘
As a woman in her 80s even the geezers don’t give me much attention——and that’s just fine with me.
:-)
.
I have to admit that it makes me a bit sad that I don’t attract the attention that I used to. I saw the model Paulina Porizkova being interviewed and even that still stunning woman said it upsets her when she goes the extra mile to do her hair and make-up and men don’t look twice at her. As hard as aging is for us non-celebrities, I can’t imagine how hard it would be for an aging model.
Is this a trick?
If the woman were wearing a hijab, she would not be “molested”. She is molested because of her indecent attire. Hence, the hijab is good for women.
Easy to arrive at that conclusion... .
