Restrooms in stadiums can be tough places. My guess is that he was accosted in the restroom, robbed and killed.

Very unusual. I’ll be keeping Mr. Kitterman and his family in my prayers.

How would the other people know that he didn’t have any credit cards with him?

It is not unheard of for people to be described by friends as non-drinkers and non-druggies who then turn out to have been exactly that. But that does not explain anything, just raises some possibilities.

I believe I read that this was the first game he had attended with his son. That suprised me. I’m not much of a sports fan, but by the time I was 12, I had gone to many ball games with my father. Maybe they have been ‘not close’ for a long time. I see the son does not use that last name. I also see no mention of a mother figure, ex-wife or ex-fiance.

It is not out of the question that this man had a psychotic break with reality and summarily chose to just ‘drop out’, vs confront some undisclosed difficulty. We all have a breaking point, our own ‘fight or flight’ responses are wired up and ready, whether we want to admit it or not.

He simply walked away.
He knew his son would be brought home by the folks who bought the tickets.
He wigged out, and split

Foul play seems unlikely to me - not in a football stadium with thousands of people around. Somebody would have seen something.

It's possible that this guy was planning his disappearance for some time, and had a car nearby with extra clothes and cash in it. He simply walked out of the stadium (no reason why this would attract any attention), got in the car and took off.
