Relatives search for Colorado man who disappeared during Broncos game

Paul Kitterman, 53, of Kremmling, was last seen leaving his seat at halftime during Thursday night's Denver-San Diego game at Sports Authority Field. Kitterman, who does not have any known medical conditions, was at the game with his son, friend Tia Bakke and her boyfriend.

"Paul and Jarod had never been to a game so we got some extra tickets," Tia Bakke told 9News.com.

Bakke said Kitterman rode with them to the game and didn't have a cell phone or credit cards with him. Kitterman had tickets in the stadium's south bleachers section that were separated from Bakke and her boyfriend. They briefly reunited at halftime, she said.

"Paul's like ... we'll see you after the game," Bakke said.

"Restrooms in stadiums can be tough places. My guess is that he was accosted in the restroom, robbed and killed."

They are also very public places, and there are almost always several people - at least - in there at the same time. How could you remove a body from a restroom in a crowded stadium without being seen? It is laughable. There are always dozens of people out on the concourse at any time during the game.

It is not unheard of for people to be described by friends as non-drinkers and non-druggies who then turn out to have been exactly that. But that does not explain anything, just raises some possibilities.

I believe I read that this was the first game he had attended with his son. That suprised me. I’m not much of a sports fan, but by the time I was 12, I had gone to many ball games with my father. Maybe they have been ‘not close’ for a long time. I see the son does not use that last name. I also see no mention of a mother figure, ex-wife or ex-fiance.

It is not out of the question that this man had a psychotic break with reality and summarily chose to just ‘drop out’, vs confront some undisclosed difficulty. We all have a breaking point, our own ‘fight or flight’ responses are wired up and ready, whether we want to admit it or not.

"The guy was a "normal guy" but he did not carry a cell phone or credit cards, just a measly $50 in cash?"

I don't carry a cell phone, and I rarely have $50 in cash on me. As for not having credit cards, how did they know that? Come to think of it, how did they know how much money he had?

any stadium rstroom that I have been in (and that's a lot of them) were always very busy places where you could hardly accost anyone.

"It is not out of the question that this man had a psychotic break with reality . . . "

I think that theory is as good as any. There is such a thing as a fear of crowds. If he'd never been to a big sports event, the huge crowd and noise could have triggered some sort of mental event, made him paranoid or disoriented, causing him to leave the stadium. Then? Anyone's guess.

There was a country song some years back where the narrator talks about having a friend who lived in New York City, who was killed by someone with a switchblade knife:

"...for forty-two dollars my friend lost his life."

Fictitious, I hope, not something that actually happened to a friend of the singer.

He simply walked away.
He knew his son would be brought home by the folks who bought the tickets.
He wigged out, and split

All that for $50?

Heck; I remember an incident at Baltimore's Memorial Stadium where a man was murdered by several blacks for less than a dollar in change. That was in the late 60's...

“How could you remove a body from a restroom in a crowded stadium without being seen? It is laughable.”

I have already said that he could have been led out of the stadium through intimidation/threat. I definitely did not say that he was killed in the restroom, or did I?. I shall refrain from commenting on your ‘laughable’ comment. ;-)

Oh, I have heard of it happening, but this is the first time I’ve heard of it happening in a pro football stadium. Perhaps I have led a sheltered life. I have never been to a pro football game. I presumed they have security guards. I guess I figured someone would have seen something such as what you’ve described.

As I have posted to others, IF there was foul play involved then he could have been led out of the stadium under duress/intimidation/threat.

However, another poster said that perhaps the family is not telling all they know. There is probably some credibility in that thought.

Apparently from comments made by his family.

I'm a long time Denver Bronco season ticket holder. I was at this game. There is no way someone could be accosted in a restroom at halftime, which are crowded, without someone noticing. The lines into the restrooms, men and women, are so long it's difficult to get in and take care of business and return to your seat before third quarter kick-off.

Foul play seems unlikely to me - not in a football stadium with thousands of people around. Somebody would have seen something.

It's possible that this guy was planning his disappearance for some time, and had a car nearby with extra clothes and cash in it. He simply walked out of the stadium (no reason why this would attract any attention), got in the car and took off.

Of course, I would expect a Denver Broncos fan to defend Denver to the limit. ;-)
