White House officials are pushing Govs. Cuomo and Chris Christie to dial down their mandatory quarantine rules and let the feds decide how to keep the deadly Ebola virus from spreading in the United States, sources told The Post on Sunday.
They are furious [with Cuomo and Christie] and cant believe they rolled out [the regulations] without consultation, particularly since its still all federal officials doing the screening at the airports, one source told The Post.
The governors rules require that all aid workers returning from West Africa be quarantined for 21 days, even if they show no sign of the disease.
Sources also said that aides to President Obama had called both Cuomo a fellow Democrat and New Jersey Gov. Christie, a possible Republican presidential candidate, to criticize the orders they jointly announced Friday.
We have let the governors of New York, New Jersey, and others states know that we have concerns with the unintended consequences that policies not grounded in science may have on efforts to combat Ebola at its source in West Africa, a senior administration official said.
We have also let these states know that we are working on new guidelines for returning health-care workers that will protect the American people against imported cases, while, at the same time, enabling us to continue to tackle this epidemic in West Africa.
The controversy heated up when a Doctors Without Borders nurse went public with an angry attack against the policy after she was quarantined against her will in a Newark hospital.

I bet Obola is “seething” and accuses Cuomo and Christie of “gumming up the works”.
How can we have a national health crisis if states impose a mandatory quarantine? We need our exposed healthcare workers out jogging, bowling, riding subways, taking in Jets games, etc. /s
Rhymes with “Soros”?

Under pressure from the White House, New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo has dropped the stricter guidelines for mandatory Ebola quarantines he had announced on Friday, The New York Times reports.
Cuomo had joined New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie at a news conference on Friday to announce the mandatory guidelines for healthcare workers returning from treating Ebola patients in West Africa, where the outbreak is severe. The announcement was made after a doctor who had returned from West Africa tested positive for the virus in New York.
The mandatory 21-day quarantines were immediately criticized by health officials and the Obama administration, which has been pressing the governors to reverse them. In the meantime, Florida and Illinois also instituted mandatory quarantines.
That, and that Christie, and Cuomo (of all people), are showing common sense, making Obola look even more Caligulesque in the quest for power.
No common sense allowed when libs have power.
Yeah...may this be the first act of all states to start enacting their 10th amendment rights!
***dial down their mandatory quarantine rules***
Really? We need to remember that once there was only ONE case of Yellow Fever, plague, cholera in the USA. How did not quarantining work out for those?
