It's weird! When everyone else was reporting excessive price hikes, I wasn't seeing it. Yeah, prices went up, but slowly.
But NOW, when everyone else is saying things are leveling or dropping, NOW it went up by 25% to 50%, sometimes 100%.

I stopped buying at $1.99 Ditto here. A few years ago, my local grocery store created a very visible clearance section where all the "expires tomorrow" meats can be found. As someone mentioned on a thread earlier this year, thrift and discount stores are a booming business.

Wonder if this is due to low crop yields for feed from the drought and/or diverting feed grain to ethanol production?
To: C. Edmund Wright
A lot of food prices have stabilized or come down....and oil has come down...so the American dollar answer isnt the whole story.
Not in Southern California they haven't.

The actual rate of inflation, that is...
devaluation of the U.S. Dollar through endless "Quantitative Easing" stimulus made by the Federal Reserve Bank.

probably not the most opportune time for the federales to announce the COLA for SS/VA to increase 1.7% because the cost of living increase is just so low.

“Then, what’s driving gasoline down ?”
China is drilling for their own oil, so they are not buying it elsewhere, which is causing a surplus.
