Remember when the The Lord Of The Rings saga ended 11 years ago, with Billy Boyd - Pippin, no less - singing out the closing credits with "Pippin's Song"? Well, coming full circle, The Hobbit: The Battle Of The Five Armies is about to witness the very same ending...

I agree Miranda Otto’s song was good, but it slowed down the story. So like other “character stories” it was relegated to the longer extended edition.
Pippen’s song however was sung a capella to the background of the king eating while his son is facing certain death in a hopeless attack.
It was a good piece of filmmaking.
And the song was not modern: It shows celtic influence. It may not fit in with Howard Shore’s music, but neither does Gollum’s song in film two.

Yes! Emiliana Torrini. I love that song. So haunting. I had the soundtrack before the film came out and was captivated by Gollum’s Song.
