I saw this guy interviewed live. He indicated that she contacted the people in Texas that she was supposed to call, who said they would have to talk to the CDC. They relayed that the CDC said it was ok.
So I don’t really see how that lets the CDC off the hook.
In addition, while I think that she showed poor judgement getting on the plane-I think that the rules regarding public transportation was probably not made clear either.
After all, if people from West Africa can travel freely on Planes, why would an American be restricted? And we were told that you can’t get it on a bus. It’s foolish. Of course there should be travel restrictions for all.
If I had been in her shoes, I can’t say for sure that I would have volunteered to take care of such a patient-especially since I have done a lot of reading and research-I sure as heck would have refused to do it in such limited protection as the standard isolation garb provided.
The CDC, Government, and Hospital Administration failed big time, and lots of people are paying the price.
I don’t care about the CDC.
They are a disaster and politicized .
I work in healthcare and have a Dallas office.
You could not get away from the 24-7 news that people at the hospital were told to stay isolated from the public for up to 21 days after exposure.
She knew and ignored it.
