Don’t go home if it’s a risk to your family. Quit if you are too big a coward to do the job. It had to have been difficult treating people with polio, smallpox etc.

Things were more straightforward in a Christian society. Service to God, service to others. Life is short, and we're all going to die, and eternity awaits those who live a Christian life. To tend the lepers or smallpox victims took bravery, but it was a bravery that was not uncommon.

Today? It's all about Me, and your disease is harshing my weekend.

It had to have been difficult treating people with polio, smallpox etc.

One difference is that the symptomatic were quarantined in their homes.
