I don’t think Ebola is going to go wild. It needs extreme poverty, stupidity, ignorance, superstition and lack of basic health-care infrastructure to go wild.
Which is why it is prevalent in West Africa and is being vectored into the USA by such people. Perhaps it can find a small foothold among such groups in the USA, but I don’t see it moving beyond.
I think this is whistling in the dark. First of all, we've got plenty of stupidity and ignorance, and second of all, we have a highly mobile and interactive population. The early outbreaks were in backwoods areas that were already isolated, so everybody just had to sit tight. Can we tell a whole city, state, and then the whole country to just sit tight? This is the SHTF scenario right there.
Oftentimes blessings are disguised.
But it will be brutal to the homeless and the poor, who are less sanitary than average. A lot of thw cases in Africa are due to crowded lines of people waiting outside hospitals and clinics. The healthcare professionals get fatigued and therefore prone to error.
“It needs extreme poverty, stupidity, ignorance, superstition and lack of basic health-care infrastructure to go wild.”
You mean like a trained nurse in full protective gear in a major U.S. hospital?
