I still remember that. So few bodies were claimed by relatives that the rest were dumped in the ocean.

I was stationed at Charleston at the time..

I knew many of the troops who were sent...both men and women..

imagine having to picked up all those babies and children..

they came back crying and horrified..

also it was dangerous because nobody knew just what disease etc might be in the bodies..

the troops were not given any type of protective gear and the bodies had been lying there several days..
