Dad is stable in the hospice facility, in and out of consciousness. She doesn’t expect him to last much longer, although it’s not clear what the specific issue of his decline is. Maybe the loss of mobility in the last few weeks was a sign of rapid mental deterioration. There’s full-time private staff with him until ... whenever.
Mom’s email this afternoon sounded more coherent than she’s been since I was there, which is good. I was afraid she was going to completely lose it.
Off to get Pat’s hair cut. DP shaved the other boys recently, but Pat was on a campout at the time.
It sounds, from what you were saying when you first learned of your father’s decline, that perhaps his kidneys were failing him.
I keep praying for all of you, and especially that your dad is in no pain, and is unaware of what is happening. My dad, bless his heart, was fairly lucid one moment and gone the next.
It’s good your mother is finding her composure again. I’m sure she was/is in shock over the sudden downturn of your dad’s health. Prayers for her.
And you...unable to be there for her. Hang tough. *hug*
I hope Pat likes his store-bought hair cut!
