All over the internet recently, sciFy vs. reality and a Mars satellite for petty cash:
That breaks the monopoly. Faced with the spectre of other nations publishing uncensored Mars images, NASA and JPL have started publishing some much more obvious images than they have in the past including a totally uncensored video (JPL) showing large-scale structure.
A few items...

He had a tip jar here for a while.
However, it might have been a more plausible idea a few years ago, before almost everyone was wearing headphones.
Good afternoon ladies and germs. I used to hate coming to the laundromat until my mom told me all the washing machines were front loaded.
And you know how us young men are about front loaded.
Better that than the alternative....
Only one, right now.
It wears them when it's time to go out. It wears them out.
I’m finally back from the MRI wars.
Before I even got there, I told at least three different people that my claustrophobia was so bad that I had to be completely put out. Like a rag doll. What happens?
I was given two 10 mg Valiums and expected to voluntarily get on the MRI table. NOT!!!! Idiots! Why could three people not understand me when I said, “Not just relaxed but out?” So it has been rescheduled for November *sigh* and will be at a different location that does the IV tranqs. What a waste of time.
The only good thing is that I have paid for something that wasn’t done, so I don’t have to pay again.
Anyway, the rest of the day was spent doing errands with Busdaddy, the last was looking at dogs. Two possibles, which is much better than the last few times we went. So MANY I wanted to take home!
So I’m going to try to unwind and catch up on things I didn’t get done, the take my achy body to bed. Maybe an hour from now...
I’m sorry you couldn’t get the MRI done so you could get the next thing ... but at least it’s paid for. I suggest you and Busdaddy keep looking at dogs but not get one. I do that with cats since we’re at our habitat’s limit!
Downside of MRI: if you are sensitive to emi fields, you will feel a weird “water rolling” effect while the MRI runs.
Can’t really describe it, but it is similar to being underwater and feeling a wave pass overhead.
(Or when you feel a thunderstorm pass overhead, and the ground charge moves over you following the storm.)
I’ve had MRIs but after the first one, I demanded to be put out. Anything near my face is enough to send me packing.
This is par for the course for me. If I’m out, I don’t care.
Now it will probably be December before I can get the epidural done. Not a happy camper.
that sounds weird
They showed video of South Koreans reacting to their costumes in public. It is hilarious and starts at about 3:25 in the video.
You don’t have to be a kitteh, to know your scale is wrong. For example, mine has been wrong for over 30 years.
Feels weird too.
I can tell when an elevator regenerative braking resistor is active, you feel it if you are within five foot.
An MRI is annoying, and a thunderstorm has this weird “lapping waves” feeling as the clouds move overhead.
There is, following the cloud overhead, a “charged shadow” that mirrors the charge in the cloud (usually).
It varies from spot to spot, and that charge moves.
If you feel it at all, it really does feel like waves over you.
Funny part: A good portion of the population can feel it, but never notice it as life distraction keeps them from paying attention.
That really stinks.
Back from the church festival. Frank and Kathleen were getting pretty tired, also I ran out of money. We stopped at Harris Teeter for some wine and pretzels.
Nice weather for it, as well as Tom and Elen’s campout and DP and Bill’s trip to Myrtle Beach.
LOL!
I’m so disgusted with this whole MRI-epidural thing I could drink half a box of pink drink if I had some, and still walk away upright. But that wasn’t in the budget this time. By the time I bought the necessary foods and paid for the non-existent MRI, I didn’t have enough to indulge my finer side.
This would be a good day for it, too. I brought two loads of laundry with me when I came over to Busdaddy’s to go look at dogs, and one is almost dry while the other is almost done with the wash cycle. I will take the second load home wet and hang it up because I can.
And finally, after four months of looking at dogs and getting nowhere, he finally tells me what he wants in a dog and why. *grrrrr*
Then contemplate my navel for the duration. *grumpy*
