All over the internet recently, sciFy vs. reality and a Mars satellite for petty cash:
That breaks the monopoly. Faced with the spectre of other nations publishing uncensored Mars images, NASA and JPL have started publishing some much more obvious images than they have in the past including a totally uncensored video (JPL) showing large-scale structure.

The "gear" thingy is the fossil segment of the stem of a crinoid or blastoid type sea creature.
Likewise, the "leftover weapon" is probably a silicified fossil of some type of linear sclerobiont (hard substrate dweller via attachment) or remain of somehting like a belemnite.
The natural world easily provides a trove of things that look like a manufactured item, and Occums Razor would have us at the least explore the already profound concept that this was fossilized life on another world (not to mention the fact that, given it's tenacity, it probably still exists there deep below the surface in warmth and moisture).
In fact, this is PROOF that the Garden of Eden was actually Mars, and God moved Adam and Eve to Earth as punishment for eating the fruit of the tree of Knowledge.

If NASA has indeed discovered artifacts of an ancient Martian civilization — why wouldn’t it be shouting it from the rooftops?
(This would guaranty a massive increase in NASA’s budget — and an accelerated program for manned landings on Mars.)

Look at the Image on comment # 42.
Notice several dark, circular areas in the deflation basin.
Any comments as to their origin?
Serious answer: Yup.
Example:
* “Gear” image: notice the lack of surface crystals (dark area) to the left of the “gear” and the curved pile of crystals.
Test: Objectively prove that these features are inconsistent with the hypothesis that these features were NOT made by the machinery of the Rover.
