Good morning. He reminds me of some of those dog breeds with droopy eyes, like a basset.
Good morning, all.
Sparkle came out again to eat and finally used the litter box, but not until I had taken the top off. I need to find some clumping litter, as I don’t think the dust will be doing my lungs any good. Or hers.
It was a long night, for some reason.
We have clumping litter. Saves some trouble, especially with two cats.
I’m concerned about the dust. The wet weather has caused some angina the last few days, and instead of once a day on the nebulizer, it’s two to three. I hate when that happens.
Today, I have to go make the bed. I just didn’t feel up to it yesterday.
Lablady wanted me to go to a jewelry party today, but with the chest pains, I had probably better stay home. *whine-whine-whine*
We DO have sunshine, so I opened the curtains and the blinds in the bedroom thinking maybe some sunbeans will find the kitteh...
We have Sunbeam, too. The cats and dragons are happy.
I’m a little concerned about Sparkle. I think being in the cage so long has done a job on her. So every time I go into the bedroom, she heads for the closet.
I go after her and hold her and she tolerates it, but I let her down as soon as she shows signs of being uncomfortable. I was afraid of this, but I got her and I’m not going to send her back to the cage. She would never recover. I will just muddle through with her.
It’s still too early to let her out into the rest of the house.
Engage maximum “Dawwwwwwww”.
She likes having a “kitty cave” in the closet?
It’s a big closet, but she likes the top of the long tub that holds my shoes, as there are long clothes to either side and short ones in the middle so she feels enclosed. Being in the cage for six months can do that...
I tried to take some pics of her, but since I had to hold her to get her to sit still, they are pretty washed out. Getting to hold her a little longer allowed me to take a better look, and she has that orange hair under her chin and along her jaw. It almost makes her look bald there!
But the orange (gold) and black look really cool! I can hardly wait until she trusts me more!
It’s only been a couple of days. I don’t think you can expect her to relax for a while. As long as she’s eating and using her box, just wait.
I know, but I just feel so helpless and almost to the point of tears that she was confined for so long. She is so pretty. I held her for about five minutes, talking to her and stroking her and got a few purrs, but if I shifted, she tensed up. Poor little waif!
I set some wet food out for her, hoping it would entice her, and set out the gift that a FRiend sent her, hoping she might be curious enough to use it...scratching post, lounge and pompom thingy...
It makes me want to cry.
aawwwwee
It almost doesn’t look like a cat.
It’s only been a few days. Keep reminding yourself!
I just held and petted her for about 10 minutes. I set her on the floor and she was OK as long as my hands were on her, but then she got distracted and headed for the closet.
She likes to bury her face in my hand. And then there is the ever loved chin scratches. I am anxious, but I will try not to transmit that to her. She doesn’t need conflicting signals.
I think she’s doing very well, for such a short time. She’s not terrified or hostile, just very cautious. It may be as little as another week before she’s all settled in.
Have you given her a ball of paper to play with?
She is too afraid to play. When I don’t hold her she sleeps, unless it is dark in the bedroom, and then she wants to eat and sharpen her claws. I hope she notices the toy, and the wet food. She didn’t eat at all the first day, but drank a little (a LOT judging by my bedding!) but her food bowl was almost empty today, so I tossed the stale stuff and gave her new, fresh water and a spoonful of wet.
I don’t want to make her sick. The last thing I need is a cat with bowel problems...
She might play if you weren’t around. Did you find out from the vet’s what she was being fed, so you can try to keep it about the same?
They said, “Science Diet,” and that stuff is the worst they could ever give an animal. I bought Fancy Feast chicken dry and wet, and when I can afford it, I will give her Blue Buffalo.
Chicken is the easiest to digest, so that’s why I started with it. The Old Lady, IIRC, used Fancy Feast for a cat that had health problems. I’m not impressed with the other foods, so I went with what I learned...chicken is good and mild...variety is ugly and causes digestive problems.
Sometimes, a little education is dangerous... ;o]
Did you see that Grumpy Cat has earned $99 million in revenue over two years?
