Recent Mars Images (Marvin the Martian throws down the kaboom in a guest zot)

Posted on 10/08/2014 10:49:46 AM PDT by aardwolf46

All over the internet recently, sciFy vs. reality and a Mars satellite for petty cash:

That breaks the monopoly. Faced with the spectre of other nations publishing uncensored Mars images, NASA and JPL have started publishing some much more obvious images than they have in the past including a totally uncensored video (JPL) showing large-scale structure.

A few items...

JPL uncensored video showing large-scale structure:

Gear of some sort.

Mixed Rain and highwind over the next few days.
The last of summer got up and walked out, a week or two ago.
The ply board and gaffer tape appear to be holding the country together. :)

Sounds disagreeable. It is quite nice here in central Florida.

Which county are the heading for? The real cold should be on site by then.

Norfolk area. My sister-in-law’s father is a retired Church of England vicar.

Ah the flatlands, very nice when the sun is out.
Some beautiful old architecture in that area. Rare flint construction as well.

I tends to be more humid than NC, but it’s very dry, for here, right now.

Good morning! Frost here and 29 degrees. Brrrr.

Glad your dad is doing ok, but it stinks about the home health workers. Do they work on a psychiatric hour? ( psychiatrists see you for 50 min and charge you for sixty min).

I hope your dad continues to get better.

Good morning and thanks! Dad has improved quite a bit since Tuesday. The aides are on a regular 60-minute hour, but it looks like the overnight one decided to cut herself 5 minutes slack, even though the replacement wasn’t in. You’d think waiting for your replacement to arrive would be part of their procedures, but Mom says the agency is dead-set against paying overtime, and the employees don’t want to work free.

A very unnngh situation. Dad was asleep, so it wasn’t a problem, but it’s an additional level of anxiety for Mom.

As you encounter layer after layer of unnngh, you eventually realize that you have somehow ended up in the middle of an unnnghion.

Unnnghions have layers.

Exellent observation, Bob. The replacement aide still isn’t there. Mom’s getting really annoyed.

Further northeast than I’ve ever been, then.

My dad’s ashes are interred in Clermont because my mom went to church there for a while, but when we headed north it was toward Sanford or the Atlantic beach.

My mom is now in Winter Park. Se suffers from dementia and nobody else lives at her house. The company my brother found has sent contientous people who don’t leave her. They at least call my brother, but only when the replacement is late and they just can’t stay. If you’d like, I’ll get the company name so you can see if they have anyone up your way.

One of the ladies who visits my mom has started taking my mom to her church. Mom is a staid Episcopalian and the woman is a black Pentecostal. I hear that Mom loves it and is somewhat of a celebrity, although she never remembers anyone there.

These aides are coming from the “Personalized Services” unit of the conglomerate that owns the condo the building where Mom lives, the Alzheimer’s care center where Dad lives, and other facilities. I don’t know whether she can bring in help from another agency. All kinds of background-checking has to go on, apparently.

If the aide isn’t there, there’s still the care center staff, but Dad could fall at any time if he’s alone, as he did sometime during Monday night.

About to sneeze? It has always seemed to me, they don't get the satisfaction from a good sneeze that we humans do.

At least right before, they don't look like they are gonna like what's coming.

I thought it looked like a “defending his territory” stance.

Do you want to be on the Kitteh ping list?

Kitty ping list rocks!

That’s because kitties are the bestest creatures in the world, IMHO
