Gibbs says crew chief changes on hold: NASCAR team owner Joe Gibbs told FOXSports.com Saturday that he his holding off on planned crew chief changes with his Sprint Cup team while his drivers battle for the championship and the team finalizes its NASCAR Nationwide Series sponsorship deals for next year. The hot rumor in the garage area is that #18-Kyle Busch's crew chief, Dave Rogers, will become JGR's competition director next year, with Adam Stevens moving to Busch's Cup car from the Nationwide Series. Likewise, Darian Grubb is thought to be in line to move from #11-Denny Hamlin's Cup car to the new fourth JGR Cup car with Carl Edwards for next year. But Gibbs said Saturday those plans are not final yet. "Our biggest concern is, we want to do everything at once," said Gibbs. "We've got a lot up in the air on the Nationwide side, still. And so, I think as soon as we get that settled down, we can kind of make an announcement." Typically, major Sprint Cup primary sponsorship deals are three years or so in duration. But on the Nationwide side, the deals are usually only one year at a time, and often not wrapped up until late January or early February, right before the racing season starts.(Fox Sports)(10-12-2014)

UPDATE #2-Brad Keselowski met with NASCAR after a cooling-off period. #20-Matt Kenseth crew chief Jason Ratcliff went voluntarily to talk to NASCAR, and Kenseth crew member Jesse Sanders was summoned by officials. It's not clear if Keselowski - or Hamlin or Kenseth - will be punished by NASCAR on Tuesday, the day penalties are traditionally issued. NASCAR vice president of competition Robin Pemberton said the sanctioning body will review the final on-track laps, and everything that occurred on pit road and in the garage. NASCAR in May fined Marcos Ambrose and Casey Mears for fighting in the garage after a race at Richmond. Harvick was fined in 2011 for a pit-road confrontation with Kyle Busch in which NASCAR cited safety concerns of Busch using his car to push Harvick's car away. The next year, Kurt Busch was fined $50,000 for dangerous driving on pit road when he hit Ryan Newman's car during a confrontation. But in the case of Saturday, with so much focus on the new Chase and the attention for the post-race skirmishes, it's not clear if NASCAR will punish those involved or pat them on the back. Harvick said there was no way NASCAR takes any action. "They love it. They were fighting afterwards, that's what it's all about," Harvick said.(Associated Press)(10-13-2014)

Clinch scenarios at Talladega: The restrictor-plate madness of Talladega Superspeedway could easily deliver multiple championship twists and turns before the end of next Sunday's GEICO 500. And the only two drivers that are immune to such chaos are Kansas winner #22-Joey Logano and Saturday night's winner at Charlotte, #4-Kevin Harvick, who are safely in the Eliminator Round.
As for the rest of the Chasers, here's where everybody needs to finish in order to guarantee their own Eliminator spot regardless of the finish of any other driver:
#18-Kyle Busch (+26 points over ninth place): 24th or better, 25th and at least one lap led, 26th and most laps led
#31-Ryan Newman (+21 points): 19th or better, 20th and at least one lap led, 21st and most laps led
#99-Carl Edwards (+20 points): 18th or better, 19th and at least one lap led, 20th and most laps led
#24-Jeff Gordon (+18 points): 16th or better, 17th and at least one lap led, 18th and most laps led
#11-Denny Hamlin (+17 points): 15th or better, 16th and at least one lap led, 17th and most laps led
#5-Kasey Kahne (+1 point), #20-Matt Kenseth (-1 point behind eighth place), #2-Brad Keselowski (-19 points), #48-Jimmie Johnson (-26 points) and #88-Dale Earnhardt Jr. (-26 points) only control their own destiny by winning Sunday at Talladega.(NBC Sports)(10-13-2014)

Well I'd much prefer to listen to a Japanese broadcast and listen to them get all worked up in that language.

ESPN Deportes also will air live telecasts of the Oct. 26 event at Martinsville, Va., and the Nov. 9 event in Phoenix. The network airs all NASCAR Sprint Cup and Nationwide Series races but normally on a delayed basis. The leading multimedia, Spanish-language sports brand dedicated to providing the widest variety of sports to the U.S. Hispanic sports fan, ESPN Deportes is the highest rated and most watched Spanish-language sports cable network, currently available in 6.1 million Hispanic households. Featuring more than 2,500 live and/or original hours of sports programming, the network is also available via WatchESPN. It’s a hoot! I got to see it back when NASCAR went to Twin Ring Motegi.

They are funny enough in race mode but when Racing gets really going OMG!

NASCAR issues penalties for Charlotte post-race: NASCAR has assessed behavioral penalties to drivers #2-Brad Keselowski and #14-Tony Stewart for their involvement in post-race incidents on Oct. 11 at Charlotte Motor Speedway. Keselowski has been fined $50,000 and placed on NASCAR probation for the next four NASCAR Sprint Cup Series championship events through Nov. 12 for violating:
" Section 12-1: Actions detrimental to stock car racing
" Section 12-4.9: Behavioral penalty -- involved in post-race incidents
Stewart has been fined $25,000 and placed on NASCAR probation for the next four NASCAR Sprint Cup Series championship events through Nov. 12 for violating:
" Section 12-1: Actions detrimental to stock car racing
" Section 12-4.9: Behavioral penalty -- involved in a post-race incident
"These penalties are about maintaining a safe environment following the race," said Robin Pemberton, NASCAR senior vice president, competition and racing development. "We knew that the new Chase format was likely going to raise the intensity level and we want our drivers to continue to be themselves. However, the safety of our drivers, crew members, officials, and workers is paramount and we will react when that safety could be compromised."(NASCAR)(10-14-2014)

What did Tony do? I missed it.

And how come Kenseth didn’t have any problems? So the only video I watched had Kenseth chasing Keselowski down from behind.
