The Wall is one place to look, the vast expanses of the internet is another.
Where have all The FReepers gone?
Long time in passing.
Where have all the FReepers gone..
Lonnnng time a'passin'
Everybody comes and goes,
The World spins NO one knows,
Where have the FReepers gone,
Gone to Heaven. Everyone..
Except for those still mround..
Where have you gone?
You've made mention of that several times yet fail to name any names.
My regret is not so much about the folks who’ve gone, but about some of the ones who are left. Time was, you could depend on Freepers to give intelligent, caring advice, information, or encouragement. Now, when someone asks for help, he or she is often ridiculed, bawled out, or made fun of.
______________
After my marriage ended, and I was trying to raise four children singlehanded, I used to call FR my “Husband” because when I was stuck in a decision, computer, car choice, technical question, schooling, I could come to FR and get intelligent active advice. Some jokes perhaps, some teasing, but I started many 200 plus threads with valuable info that many people would bump and save for further reading.
For a giggle, I don’t know if anyone remembers this one:

I am still here, but busy since I retired.
It is interesting. Once I left the stalkers who followed me around and who tried valiantly to get me banned, disappeared.
I was the 13,500 person to register with FR.
It’s up to what, 350,000 now?
5.56mm
The country, my country, is cracking like a egg and all the stuff is held in by the membrane only.
I dont know who can put humpty dumpty back together again, or even if its worth doing...
All this caused by such a small group of people is embarrassing. But they have educated our kids for at least two generations and starting a third.. And therein lies the problem going forward.
Assuming there is a future at all. I hope there is..but I have no faith left...not after the last election, and I dont think I am the only one who feels this way....am I..
_______________
You are no way the only person who feels that way. there are many politically who watch wait fight if we can.
Something wicked this way comes.
Otoh, I do love some of the rhetorical commentary and analysis most active Freepers still contribute. And the breaking news, such as the second Ebola being monitored patient relayed here from a radio report beat the news outlets by some 12 hours.
____________
I agree.
You’ve made mention of that several times yet fail to name any names.

Many of the old timers here tonight know who they are. No need to name names.
Norm, I’m still kicking. Since December 30, 1998.
Lurked for a few months starting in the summer of 1998, having been so disgusted by Clinton, and then finding this site was a lifesaver.
Came on my own from NJ to DC for the March for Justice on Oct. 31, 1998. I can still remember walking toward the Washington Monument and coming up over the rise of a hill and seeing 4,000 fellow minded patriots there, with flags a-streaming!
All who answered the call of an Internet pioneer named Jim Robinson. People from so many states had come. A very young and not very well-known Ann Coulter addressed the crowd.
Six weeks later the President of the United States was impeached.
In 1999 and 2000, I attended some of the Saturday morning Freeps at the White House, and had a lot of fun talking with the tourists. My favorite sign to hold was the one of Clinton waving and it said “Clinton Crime Wave”. I am in a LOT of tourists’ picture around the globe.
In 2000, this site was critical in the post election period to galvanizing folks against the clear vote fraud in FL, and of course, the demonstration outside the Al Gore VP residence in DC. And Registered’s Sore Loserman graphics, which went viral.
In 2004, this site exposed CBS and Dan Rather and Mary Mapes’ naked smear of George Bush as well as supported the SwiftboatVets. These two things critically influenced the electorate during August, 2004,between the conventions of the two parties, and unbelievably both George Bush and Karl Rove excoriated those who led both efforts.
In 2007 we helped rally the country to defeat “immigration reform”, and we were to finally get a fence on the Southern border. But the GOP’s Kay Bailey Hutchison took out the funding the next year. Et tu, Kay?
In 2008, we lost to a disaster named Barack Obama. This site vetted him, but the American media and public did not. We rallied behind Sarah Palin, a true conservative VP candidate, only to watch the ever traitorous John McCain throw the election to a Muslim gay man from Chicago.
We reeled from that, and rallied in 2009 and 2010 in favor of the Tea Party, and returned the GOP to power in the House in 2010, where, beginning in January, 2011, they betrayed us and America, refusing to thwart Obama.
In 2012, the GOP put up Mitt Romney, who in spite of all of Obama’s flaws and misdeeds, could not run a decent campaign in one of the most critical elections of our lifetimes.
Now, in 2014, we have one backstop left to us to contain the damage caused by Obama, and the GOP considers us to be a worse enemy than the Dems. Just wow.
No one will be able to write a true political history of the last 16 years in Ameirca without mentioning FreeRepublic.
Did not sign up until December 30, 1998 because I was just intimidated by the knowledge and depth of discussion here.
Now, many of the folks are remembered here, on the FreeRepublic Memorial Wall:

Just passed my 25,000th post last week. Many others have far more.
All thanks to a man in California named Jim Robinson.
He may not have a leg to stand on, as he jokes, but he stands as a giant among men.
And I thank him, and all of you, for allowing me to be on this journey.
Love you, Jim and Amy
I was on the thread the night when he got banned, he had just sent me a hate email and then a couple of posts later he was gone.
Don’t see Laz here tonight.
But they have educated our kids for at least two generations and starting a third.
^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
This is why I follow the education threads so closely.
The government’s K-12 single-payer schools are our nation’s most serious long term threat, even more than Islam or Ebola.
We will not survive as a Republic if the Marxist/left continue brainwashing our kids in their godless temples of single-payer socialist-entitlement ( oops! “schools”).
2 stents. Lost 30 lbs in 1 1/2 month, now putting soome back. Still 18-21 lbls less than before the attack. Not Atkins, but a pretty low carb diet. Easy on the salt. I;m actually getting used to it.
That’s very cool...great idea, and good luck with that!
Wow...that nearly floored me reading it!
I don’t remember that. I kind of enjoyed watching him foam at the mouth after the first bottle cooking sherry.
I’d forgotten you are a member of the class of ‘98!
At ten years, I still feel like a newb! LOL
Yeah. You could get a sense of his level of inebriation as his posts deteriorated.
I had lost 25 on low carb before the chest pain. I'm just going to do what they tell me to do. I know I'm going to blow up on the low fat thing and that they're going to say I'm not controlling portions.
Be well.
