...whose English society girl mother married Buddhist guru when she was 16...For the life of me I could not figure out what that sentence was trying to say. What's a 'girl mother'? Why are they talking about his daughter's mother?
... After reading some of the text, I finally was able to crack the code. I would have rephrased the sentence: his mother was an English society girl (aka, promiscuous slut) who married a Buddhist guru when she was 16...
I guess this was from a Brit newspaper, so I will cut them some slack since obviously English (at least the American brand) is their second language...
