We've chatted just a few days ago and you're far more tuned into pop culture than I am. So I ask: What rock singer (or band) was known for biting the head off snakes (or perhaps it was a duck) back in the 60s or 70s? Was that another urban myth? If not, was it a real creature or just a prop? Yep, I am so naive and clueless about this stuff! Someone even told me that Eddie Haskell became a famous rock star but even I didn't believe that. :)

Ozzy Osbourne. At a record exec meeting. He was drunk as a skunk. Then he did it with a bat that bit him.

Stage act/attention whoring and drunk. It made him millions. Not that I think it was a great idea.

Well, Ozzy Osbourne had a schtick where he'd bite the head off a rubber bat at the end of the show. One day in Des Moines one of the audience tossed him a real bat - probably already dead - and when he bit the head off and spit it out they couldn't find it again. That turned out to be a problem, and Oz took the entire course of rabies shots as a result. NOT happy.

I don't know about snakes but there are two rock stars that were notorious for biting the heads off birds (usually bats or chickens): Alice Cooper from the 1970s and Ozzy Osbourne from the 1980s.

Now many urban myths are involved here too and would have you believe this was a regular staple of their concerts, but in reality they probably only actually did it once or twice. Rest of the time, they were using props.

Ken Osmond aka “Eddie Haskell” went on to become an LAPD cop.
