Did the referees cross the line?
Kansas City Chiefs safety Husain Abdullah came up with a big play during Monday night's win over the New England Patriots, as he intercepted a Tom Brady pass and took it to the house for a touchdown. However, once he reached the end zone, Abdullah dropped to his knees and did this ["pray"]:
Abdullah is a practicing Muslim and it's common for people of that faith to pray from their knees. However, this drew a flag from the officials for excessive celebration. But should it have? FOX Sports NFL rules expert Mike Pereira pointed out last year that this type of celebration shouldn't draw a flag.

‘Sport’ was referring to Abdullah...
That makes a great tag-line!
Times have changed in the past 40 years and not for the better that's for sure.
The guy is a safety, linebacker or something, he will have an interception returned for a Touchdown once in a blue moon, maybe never again. Look at the bright side.
So, this should not stop Christians, if Tebow played or others from celebrating. Just a bitter pill for a moment to see.
Allah is Arabic for ‘the God’
The ‘god’ of their death cult is NOT the God of Abraham, Issac, and Jacob...the God of the Holy Scriptures.
That’s a theological assertion. The fact is that Arabic speaking Christians also use the word Allah when referring to God.
He look like wants Michael Sam to pile on.
Islam is all about deception. Have a nice day.
The Arabic language is what it is regardless of what Muslims make of it. Allah was used as a word for God before Islam existed.
And the word Abba is a bit like the word Allah.
“Abba” - (in the New Testament) an intimate term for God as father.
There is a lot of crossovers in languages.
I guess, now that I think about it, Halleluia is a bit like Alahu, I hate to say these things but it is so.
NFL cratering a bit, saying giving out a penalty a mistake.
As I said, this fellow probably will not ever score again.
That's a fact. It's simply good sense to never trust a mooselimb. An attitude of zero tolerance for ALL members of that satanic cult is just being prudent and wise.
If another athlete pointed heavenward or made the sign of the cross and said “thank you Lord” should he be flagged as well?
Either his kneeling or those other two actions are less disruptive than some of the endzone dances performed.
Shalom and salaam.
No. I'm intolerant and gladly admit to a double standard when it comes to such things. In the case of mooselimbs, such actions deserve much more than a yellow flag. At the very least, the mohammedan needs to be banned for life until and unless he sincerely repents and becomes a genuine Christian or Jew. My ideal punishment, as I've made clear on FR, is the expulsion of all mooselimbs from America. No exceptions.
The founder of Free Republic has stated, he is not fair and balanced. Well, neither am I. I oppose the satanic cult of islam in all forms and I treat all of its adherents as agents of the devil who aim to murder all "infidels". As I've mentioned repeatedly on Free Republic, liberals use these as terms of derision but they're badges of honor for me.
And yes, leftists sneer when they use the term "Texan" because they hate the Conservative values that are part of this state's being. They also hate Texas for its just application of the death penalty -- one of the many things I like about the Lone Star state.
While we still may not be on the same page regarding this issue, I owed you the courtesy of a frank and forthcoming response.
Amen.
Penalized? Had a Christian done this in a Muslim country, he’d risk a beheading.
Thanks much Jim for the followups in this thread! I know you're busy but if you can spare a moment, I'd sure appreciate your thoughts on how I recently treated a muzzie who owns a convenience store. It's post #15 in this thread. Some FReepers think it was bit over the top and maybe even uncivil and rude. Frankly, really I don't care. As just one minor, unimportant individual, I wanted to send a clear message that at least one person has zero tolerance for that satanic cult. And I wanted him to know precisely why a longtime customer would never patronize his store again.
Honesty is always appreciated, agreement or not.
