Another son of the couple found the bodies on Saturday night, the Springville Department of Public Safety said.
Preliminary autopsy results have ruled out any sort of violent assault.
"The Medical Examiner has indicated that the next step is to continue the investigation through analysis of blood samples to determine what may have caused the deaths," the Springville DPS said.
All five bodies were found in one bedroom of a duplex, CNN affiliate KUTV reported.
Firefighters entered the home wearing special equipment to test for carbon monoxide, but there was no indication of a buildup of the odorless poisonous, gas, Springville Police Lt. Dave Caron said.
The family had three pets -- a kitten, a full grown cat and a ferret -- who all survived, he said.

“The family had three pets — a kitten, a full grown cat and a ferret — who all survived, he said.”
That point makes this strange. CO is what comes to mind first, but that was kind of ruled out. I suspect the cats did it somehow
The cat will blame the kitten.
Also, most modern cars produce so little CO it’s really difficult to poison yourself with the exhaust.
The problem is that CO poisoning is something that can be seen physically on a body, blue lips, petechiae in the eyes..since they already ruled out CO my guess there bodies had no signs.
My only theory is that the rapture occurred, and it was just these 5 people that got taken.
Tail-gating party in football stadium parking lot.
I've lived in Utah most of my life and have never heard the term "Mormon suicide" or that poisonings are especially common here. I guess I must live a pretty sheltered life.
Perhaps.
You got me, laughin’. Thanks.
Where’s Poirot?
Carbon monoxide would be my guess...as for pets, were they in the same room?
That was a movie with Tim Conway and Harvey Corman and they were at the horse races.
Most likely CO poisoning.
Remember last winter when the maid found an old couple dead in their motel room down south somewhere, and authorities ruled that they had both had heart attacks at the same time by coincidence(and it must have occurred to authorities to first check for CO poisoning in a mysterious double death, right?).
They evidently found no sign of CO poisoning, cause they ruled it a double heart attack. Then two days later ANOTHER couple was found dead in the same motel room and they traced a CO leak from a faulty pool heater. Horrible tragedy...
My point is, CO poisoning must not be as clear cut and obvious as one might think... the gas must dissipate and the physical signs on the dead may not be evident.
I was under the impression the animals got out, or were not in the same area as the people.
They’ll both rat on the ferret
