A waitress turned author claims she received two generous tips of $1,000 on two separate occasions from conservative radio host Rush Limbaugh — but she couldn’t find it in herself to keep the “blood money.”
Instead, she allegedly donated a “sizable chunk” of Limbaugh’s $2,000 tip to an abortion charity.

Perhaps the confusion lies in the fact that in the article it states that Rush was with Al Michaels. Perhaps they both left 1,000 tips. Thus the total was 2,000 but only 1,000 came from Rush.

This is a great example of the distorted thinking of the Left.
Rush may not be part of the “1%” but he’s certainly well off. According to the Left, people like Rush aren’t “paying their fair share” and should be taxed more.
Somehow, it’s laudible if the government takes $1000 from Rush at the point of a gun, launders it through layers of bureaucracy, incompetence, waste and fraud and then squanders what’s left. And this good little Leftist would be happy to take that money or have it given to her friends. But if Rush willingly gives $1000 out of his own already-taxed income to a recipient of his choosing in an effort to really make a difference, then it’s “blood money”.
If his money’s so bad, maybe he should be exempt from paying any taxes, if you take Leftist “logic” to it’s extreme.
And a mention that she's conservative. The IRS will break records to investigate one of "those" people!
While I was at Fort Leavenworth (as a student, not an inmate)I went to Stroud’s. The waitresses all knew him and loved the guy, we didn’t get into politics. They did mention he was a great tipper as well. As an aside, if you go there try to coordinate for a less busy time of the day; during prime time the wait is long.

IRS has had in place for a number of years, rules for tip income. And unless Rush left a cash tip, the full amount of the charged tip would be reported on her W-2.
Back in the day, tips were reported at 8% of total sales or if higher, the reported charge tips. I could be wrong on the numbers, it’s been a couple of decades or so since I waited.

Very hard to judge the characters of waiters and waitresses. One really does not spend all that much time with them and most people don’t even consider their personalities unless they are rude and/or incompetent.

They are the absolute worst of the worst tippers. I use to drive a taxi in New York city a few years ago in between jobs, and for example I’d drive a construction worker and he would give me a $5 buck tip on a $10 buck ride, then I would pick up some rich lib on the Upper West side who wanted to go hang out with the Occupy Wall street crowd and they would give me a nickel tip on a $19 buck ride which meant I had to give back a dollar as I didn’t have 95 cents which of course they knew. All the time that would happen, the doorman would hail me and they’d have their lib tee shirts or some other crap ID-ing themselves as lib and I would groan. There is cheap then there is liberal cheap which is the cheapest it gets.
Nah, ain’t gonna happen. He won’t give the story the time of day. And won’t trouble to keep track of who she was.You or I would - but then, it wouldn’t happen to us because we aren’t likely to give a $1000 tip any time soon - let alone routinely, as Rush does.
