I’ve been super busy with work the last week or so, but I finally saw this on my ping list.
I’ve gotta applaud you for posting this video here. While I don’t completely agree with all of what he says, more than enough of it was correct enough to share.
I was not disappointed by many of the expected responses I read, though I should have been. I suppose I have become jaded by humanity’s penchant for seeking impregnable fortresses, whether made of stone or made of thought patterns, to “protect” themselves from others. At least mankind has moved on from pointing and shouting “She’s a witch! Burn her!” to “He’s a collectivist! Discount all of his ideas!”
I think I only had one disagreement with your responses to the criticism. It was the one about getting useful degrees so as to no become a burden on society. I used to think this way. And I still believe we need as many good engineers of various disciplines we can get. But, I also believe we need a few historians, writers, poets, philosophers, sociologists, theologians, artists, musicians, etc. These are what make ours a beautiful, vibrant civilization instead of a functional, soulless ant colony.
Me, I write funny lines.
