Arizona Cardinals running back Jonathan Dwyer head-butted his wife and broke her nose after she refused his sexual advances, and punched her in the face the next day, police said Thursday.

Ewwwwww. LOL!!!
Hope you like your hand.
They can start with Florida State (Football) and Oklahoma State (Basketball).
What happens when most of the athletes that are violent turn out to be minorities?
No problem mate. It’s one of the great scenes in movies.
“she should have texted him back a picture of a gun”
LOL, that would have been good, but very, very mean.
Just as there are allegations that minorities are being disproportionately disciplined in the schools, I’m waiting for when someone starts alleging that minorities are being disproportionately disciplined in sports.
“Baseball and hockey probably benefit in that one specific way...”
Without seeming racist, I am about to make comment that will be considered such...
The majority of College players in these sports are not dark skinned.
If we made it manditory for college and professional teams to be ‘equal opportunity’, there would be a lot less ‘equal opportunity’ guys ‘employed’ in football and basketball.
In private business with a union contract (but no morality clause) I couldn’t have even thought to fire these guys. I know it reflects “dishonor” on the team but should, for instance, Adrian Peterson lose his job and income due to an accusation. My Dad whipped me with his belt and my Mother with switches. I deserved it and profited by the correction and was taught self discipline. It’s a different world today but is it better.
Well I have never followed sports but I am pretty sure that the level has increased, but interestingly you seem to feel it’s not worth bringing up.Just exactly when is domestic violence OK? and when do we hold those in the public eye accountable? For Christ’s sake Tiger was castigated for extramarital sex.
When saying “dearest, I love you...” Isn’t enough, HEAD BUTT! Works every time...
You can mark the time you made that statement.
They seem to be really going after black players.
Why aren’t they arresting more white players?
Isn’t this racism?
I may have not phrased something in the right way. Domestic violence now, is an important as it was THEN! But suddenly, it is getting much more attention. My question was simply, why now, when it didn’t get as much attention before? How would you explain it?
Just the cynic in me, but I bet there are people scouring the records to try to find a white player who’s been accused of domestic violence.
Snicker! :-)
LOL!
The NFL has placed a premium on image. Remember all the public relations films given to how the players support United Way? And there are any given number of players pictured supporting various children’s health or sports activities. IMAGE is critical to the NFL, and any player or person with the organization who publicly tarnishes that image can expect to separated from the NFL.
I would say that it both happens more often now and there is way more media and less intervention by teams and organizations to hush it up. Also I think there is a definite correlation between the IQ’s of those involved and their feeling of entitlement.
I don’t think it is racist. And if you count places like the Dominican Republic, almost all are dark skinned as far as baseball.
I think the skill set for basketball and football at the highest level generally requires a certain level of pure physical athleticism with size. Or it’s at least very helpful. One important skillset for baseball is hitting a round ball fair with a round bat against major league pitching. It is very, very, very hard to do, the best of the best only usually only can manage it 3 out of ten times or little more. If you can do that consistently against major league pitching, pure physical athleticism isn’t as generally necessary as those other sports, although it can be useful. Of course there are also cultural factors with baseball.
I don’t know much about hockey, so I could very well be wrong but I think hockey is mostly cultural factors. Seems like blacks would dominate that too if it was popular as football or basketball. The motor racing sports maybe not so much, that seems skill set based although the cultural factors would be hard to overcome anyway.
