Before cable, I watched every college and pro game I could.
I'm a Giants fan - moved from NYC area to Rochester in mid 1960s. No Giants on TV so I bought a rooftop antenna to pick up Giants from Syracuse station.
During the game, I'd have to climb up on the roof 3-4 times to get a better signal ... no matter what the weather.
Today, I'm not only ready to quit watching, I'm thiiiiis close to canceling cable. Period. Eff 'em all.

When we signed up to directv, we were provided eastern and LA network feeds because we were in an area where broadcast stations from LA did not all come in clearly.

Subsequently, we moved to the San Diego area at the time local channels were available on direct.

Direct grandfathered us in So we now get whatever is in LA, NYC, or San Diego. Lost of choices. But I pick the best games and still scan through.

BTW if I switch out my box to a new one, they will most likely audit my account and stop the network feeds.
