Before the Pritchetts and Dunphys, or the Cosbys, or the Bradys -- before the Cleavers, even -- there were Ozzie and Harriet Nelson and their sons, David and Ricky.
For 14 years and 435 episodes, the Nelsons starred in a TV show about themselves, filmed on sets that replicated their own Los Angeles home.
They invited America into their living room from 1952 to 1966, and hundreds of thousands of American families returned the favor. Even now, the phrase "Ozzie and Harriet" is practically synonymous with clean-scrubbed 1950s America.

In other words: Before the collapse of society and before the demise of civilization.
No kidding.
IOW... before liberals started “helping” people.
Amen to that i loved that show and family sad they are all gone except for the grand kids the twins and Tracy nelson I think the mother may still be around i must google
We weren’t allowed to watch it. My father disapproved of their shenanigans.
Thanks for sharing. It is a lovely home. Where there are “before remodel” and “after remodel” photos, I generally preferred the before styles.
I never realized they were an actual family. I feel pretty dumb.
I read years ago that Ozzie was an atheist.
Where on earth did you hear that?
The series (which Ozzie had total creative control over) certainly had a good number of Christmas-themed episodes.
And, though it might not entirely have much bearing, when he was a bandleader, he certainly towed the line on any poor behavior from his sidemen.
The family had some serious problems.
WIKI:
Kristin Nelson (born Sharon Kristin Harmon; June 25, 1945) is an American primitive painter, actress and author, once married to the actor and musician Ricky Nelson.
The daughter of the American football star Tom Harmon and the actress Elyse Knox, she is the older sister of model-actress Kelly Harmon and actor Mark Harmon.[1]
She married Nelson in 1963 and joined their family television show. The couple had four children, but their extravagant lifestyle forced Nelson to tour for long periods, placing great pressure on the marriage. A long-fought divorce was finally granted before Nelson’s death in an air-crash in 1985.
Pre Brown vs Board of Education and especially LBJ who dumped all the bad apples in the Ozzie and Harriet America barrel, “just to be fair”.
Now, if you want to talk about Gilligan's Island or Hogan's Heroes....

From my recollection, the “family trouble” was more connected to Ricky’s family and Sharon.
I met and worked with David in the early 60’s at March AFB, he was AF Reserve. Nice in person as he was on TV!
About 40 years ago someone wrote to a magazine asking what religion the Nelsons were. I remember the editor said Ozzie was an atheist. The others were not, but I don’t remember what they were.
The father had some troubles as well, but nothing like Ricky’s. I’ve never heard anything about David except that he seemed to be a good guy.
You know those absurd “terrorist” watch lists they have at the airport?
Someone named David Nelson was on one of those lists, and every time anyone named David Nelson tried to fly somewhere, they were subjected to extra hassles and searches.
Even David, the son of Ozzie and Harriet, was routinely hassled every time he flew out of John Wayne Airport in Orange County, even though everyone who worked at the airport knew who he was. Many other people with common Anglo names are also on the watch lists.
Meanwhile, I’ve heard stories of Muslim women being allowed to pat THEMSELVES down at the airport. Bizarro world.
