God made man with Body, soul, and spirit.

Jesus Christ in His humanity, was perfect, the second ADAM, with a body, soul, and human spirit.

The soul composition includes the mind, memory, self-consciousness, conscience, mentality, heart, thinking and volition. It is identified with the person. Jesus Christ was judged on the Cross (focus on His human soul, His Divinity wasn’t so judged).

The thinking part of man is composed of 2 parts, the mind and the heart.

Many Old Testament verses refer to the life being breathed into Adam, with no discernment between spirit and soul.

New Testament passages such as 1stCor 2:14 speak of discerning between the ‘natural man’ and the “new man”, the born again believer.

1Co 2:14 But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.

The new Christ nature of a born again man is synonymous with the human spirit.

Heb 4:12
(12) For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.

1Co 15:42-58
(42) So also is the resurrection of the dead. It is sown in corruption; it is raised in incorruption:
(43) It is sown in dishonour; it is raised in glory: it is sown in weakness; it is raised in power:
(44) It is sown a natural body; it is raised a spiritual body. There is a natural body, and there is a spiritual body.
(45) And so it is written, The first man Adam was made a living soul; the last Adam was made a quickening spirit.
(46) Howbeit that was not first which is spiritual, but that which is natural; and afterward that which is spiritual.
(47) The first man is of the earth, earthy: the second man is the Lord from heaven.
(48) As is the earthy, such are they also that are earthy: and as is the heavenly, such are they also that are heavenly.
(49) And as we have borne the image of the earthy, we shall also bear the image of the heavenly.
(50) Now this I say, brethren, that flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God; neither doth corruption inherit incorruption.
(51) Behold, I shew you a mystery; We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed,
(52) In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed.
(53) For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality.
(54) So when this corruptible shall have put on incorruption, and this mortal shall have put on immortality, then shall be brought to pass the saying that is written, Death is swallowed up in victory.
(55) O death, where is thy sting? O grave, where is thy victory?
(56) The sting of death is sin; and the strength of sin is the law.
(57) But thanks be to God, which giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.
(58) Therefore, my beloved brethren, be ye stedfast, unmoveable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, forasmuch as ye know that your labour is not in vain in the Lord.

In re: to Jesus Christ’s ascension. When He died on the Cross, He first was judged, then he suffered a spiritual death or separation from God the Father in His humanity. This is shown when He exclaimed, “Why have you forsaken me!”

He still had a soul in his body; he still was perfect but became sin for us. He was judged for us and paid the penalty of sin.

He then exclaimed, It is FINISHED (once and for all)! indicating all payment had been rendered to God propitiating His wrath, atoning for all sin, and He then gave up the ghost (human spirit) back to God the Father, from whom it had been created (human spirit). The human spirit went to heaven as it remained incorruptible. The soul descended to Hades, specially to Abraham’s Bosom, also known as “Paradise”, the dwelling place of Old Testament believers before the payment for sin had been made. His body went to the grave (in the tomb).

Three days later, as prophesied, the spirit returned to the body, the soul ascended to the body on earth, and the body was raised immortal in the First Resurrection.

He was witnessed for exactly 40 days in HIs resurrection body on earth, then ascended to the third heaven, seated at the right hand of the Father, and 10 days later began the Church Age.

The human spirit identified with the ‘new man’ is a life created by God the Father and placed in us by God the Holy Spirit. It is incorruptible. This is not the same as our soul.

In re: to ghosts, there may be other issues at hand. (To be continued).

Thank you for that excellent information about the body, soul, and spirit. It makes me wonder if perhaps some people just might be more in tune with the human spirit than others are.
