I think she says “I divorce thee” 3 times, then he hands her over to his brothers who have their way with her and then end up beheading her and dragging her carcass in the street.

According to this site, either the husband or wife can initiate divorce.

It should be noted that Orthodox Jewish divorces must be initiated by the husband.
It is because it was another woman.... if it was a normal Islamic affair, a young boy or a goat, she would still be married.
But seriously, women have a sixth sense and have a heightened sense of smell, just as one example.

Some years ago, I came home from a business function one night and my wife smelled a strange perfume or cologne on me. In the more "moderate" countries such as the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Dubai, Qatar, and increasingly Saudi Arabia for example women have equal rights/access to the court system for purposes such as divorce.
