As if the fearmongery and vitriol of UK, Europe and the US were not enough, the Middle-East's 'allied' leaders are now opining on the threat of ISIS. As FOX News reports, The king of Saudi Arabia has warned that jihadists could target the United States and Europe if leaders across the globe do not react to growing terrorist threats as Islamic State militants make advances across Iraq and Syria. "If neglected, I am certain that after a month they will reach Europe and, after another month, America," blasted King Abdullah, adding Cameron-esquely, "they know no humanity." Of course, this is quote ironic given the Saudi's funding of various terror groups throughout the region.

The Saudis would have something to say about that. They are inexorably linked with the USA via the 3 big American and Dutch Shell petroleum companies. The USA gives the three American petroleum companies beaucoup tax breaks for that very reason...our reliance on their petroleum/natural gas resources.
The AMERICANS (privateer oil companies, NO American government EVER involved) began that link in the 1920's and finally the King bought them out in 1982 so that the Saudis could finally own their own natural resources again.
The Saudis kicked bin Laden out of the KSA. They would do so to any terrorist who threatened their ONLY source of revenue. They have EVERY reason in the world to keep ISIS out of their country...and every other country over there. They need NO civil strife, wars or "conflicts" interfering with the flow. "The spice must FLOW." (Mu'a dib) Sorry, couldn't resist.
Also, the Saudis WILL run out of petroleum/natural gas one day. They have another 200 years of reserves but THAT will disappear one day. SO, they have to plan for life AFTER their God-given gift runs out.
I agree with regard to the Saudi royals. Or at least those of them presently in control.
That is, however, a pretty small percentage of the nation and even of the royal family. There are most certainly strong elements in Saudi with definite incentives to overthrow the present system and themselves get control of all that money.
Probably including some of the royals. The Family is so huge now that there is no way they can all be maintained in the lifestyle to which they believe themselves entitled.
There are also the hardline Wahabbis, who are fully aware of the decadent lifestyles of the royals, and are in more or less full agreement with the ISIS ideology, though they may differ on who should be in charge of that ideology.
All these groups have reasons to ally themselves with ISIS for a share of the spoils.
I have no idea how cohesive the Saudis are, so don’t know whether the forces leading to discord are greater than those tending to peace.
I do know that their population is growing rapidly, but their revenue is most definitely not keeping pace. This is not a recipe for social peace.

They’ve been building their pilgrim ‘tourism’ to Mecca, because they know & said they can’t rely on ongoing oil revenue. That pilgrim tourism is becoming a multi billion dollar business, with significant investment in it. There was a documentary about that on tv a few yrs ago, interviews with a couple of Saudi royals too.. anyhow the ruling class of SA is excepionally wealthy already & has been for decades.
Their homes, families, friends, jobs...their LIVES are over there. The thirty Saudi men I worked with (and my husband agreed) were all basic JoeSchmoes from Kokomo.
The older ones (my boss included) were illiterate. The younger ones could read and write...and that was a major goal of the KSA, to educate their people.
They are STILL Bedouins, with their simple faith and their simple lives. Petroleum alters their culture but doesn't change it much. Please don't bash me for saying something NOT negative about those people. I did work with them for five years and got to know them as human beings, not just Muslim Arabs. They DO think differently. Their logic IS different.
Maybe you don't believe me. We lived over there five YEARS, not five months. One can learn a lot about a culture in that time. It wasn't all good or all bad. It was, basically, just like life everywhere. They worried about their children, their old age, their 18-year-old sons who didn't want to go to school, work or do anything but "cruise around" in their brand new American BIG, FAST cars.
I saw a lot of similarities with OUR own 18-year-old sons. Please don't BASH me for saying that either. It was true.

Islam is a war plan.
The Saudis royals are not a cohesive family in belief or ideology. And it’s a Very large family. From what i understand many average Saudis favor IS or at least don’t have a problem with IS. One needs to look at the situation from their perspective (Islamic one), not ours ie western one, with ‘spice’ priorities. There is a common view that the Saudi royals or certain members have already ingratiated themselves too much with the West. That’s not a positive thing from their point of view. — i gotta go to get some sleep. Will see what happens..

A whole lot of freepers seem to think all Muslims are religious fanatics and that they are all working together to subvert America and the West.
I’ve never believed that. Most are in many ways very similar to the rest of us, as you eloquently point out.
The problem is that there are a whole bunch of them who do want to kill us all, with the subsidiary problem that a great many of those who don’t will stand with their “brothers” who do in a confrontation.
I also agree that they think differently about certain things than we do. I’ve always found it odd that “progressives” always assume that the highest ambition of every person around the world is to be just like upper-class educated American or European liberals. Despite their professed belief in diversity, they don’t really believe in it.
Some people just have different value systems than we do.

This last comment of yours rings so true. We had to keep reminding ourselves that we were in a foreign country, with a different political system (king) and a WHOLE set of different values.
In reality, those five years over there taught me MOST about myself, what was important in life, to me and how I wanted to live my life.
It made me a better person, and thanks to my Saudi boss, I began to attend DAILY Mass OVER THERE and continue as I write. Whodda EVER thunk that I would be attending DAILY MASS thanks to my Saudi Muslim boss?

Sure does.
I don’t think it’s necessarily bad that people have different value systems. In fact, it’s part of the rich pattern of diversity the multicultis pretend to (but don’t really) believe in.
I do object, however, to people whose most deeply held values require them to oppress, enslave or kill me or mine. They need to modify those values or we’re going to go round and round, as my Dad used to say.
