I saw the movie “Dune” back around 1986. I thought it was very good but was surprised how many people thought it was bad.

I got to noticing those who hated the movie had invariably read the book.

I saw the movie 'Dune' and thought is was quite good. The author, Frank Herbert wrote quite a few soliloquies of it. I tried reading 'God Emperor of Dune' but is was so boring I didn't get through it.

There is an fan edit of ‘Dune’ by a guy named spicedriver that is exceptional. It follows the book while deemphasizing the sonic guns Lynch concocted.

Even as someone who read the book, I appreciated the film adaptation. There’s just literally tons of material in the book, and only so much to cover in say 2-4 hours. In terms of how much it covered, and what it was able to put on the screen, I will honestly say i was impressed. Saw the film in 2000, and felt it was a decent adaptation. If you really wanted to be so detail perfect to the original, then it would probably be a 5-7 hour film with parts.
