The studios have completely lost control of their “stars.”

I have never seen any of the 3 hour epics, King Kong, Lord of the Rings. The “new” Star Wars. None of it.

Who has the time to sit for all of that?

I’m a Star Trek fan, and I like the Lord of the Rings movies, but the only other thing like that I’ve watched is a rerun of Dune-I get bored in the middle of Star Wars...

I am Star Trek over Star Wars easily. I don’t think i even saw the original SW movies more than once. The first one maybe. Def not the second or third.

You have to blame home video as well. Directors used to have to consider how long people would sit in a theater. Now they figure you will pause the movie, so they don’t even try to tighten it up.

It is nice to have the house at 77 instead of 95. Much easier to go to and stay asleep. I am hoping this system is more efficient over the long haul. They recommended I put in an attic fan, for about $150, to ease the workload on the unit up there and pull off some heat so I plan to have that done before next summer.

You haven’t seen Lord of the Rings??? Do it over a couple of nights. It is worth it.

I’m debating whether or not to watch DW tonight or when it goes to infinity so I can skip commercials. It depends on how good the football is tonight.

Attic fans are a must for me-I think they make a difference in the energy bills just by venting some of that heat out of the attic in the summer.

I intend to put a whole house fan in the nest I build-maybe two-the last house did not have them because the design was not compatible-the upstairs was too closed off-but the house before that did, and it was great.

I watched the first movie and decided there was no reason to subject myself to any more 3 hour Peter Jackson films.

I’ll DVR it. You really need to get one of those. Especially for football.

I only watched the first Star Wars more than once-and that was because the kid insisted-but I just could not get into any of the others at all. I’ve been a Star Trek fan since I was a teen and watched the original series when it first aired-the actors playing the main characters in the new two movies must have watched the original series to study their character every day for weeks, because they have the respective attitudes right, then ramped up a bit to allow for being 4-5 years younger and less experienced...

National Lampoon did a spoof of the book Lord of the Rings when I was young, and it was one of the funniest things ever-politically incorrect, profane-everything to make you LYAO...

Xsbaby and I went to see The Giver. She’d had to read it for 8th grade. It was good, a conservative themed movie many conservatives are advocating.

I got the book and read it when the movie came out, thinking it sounded a bit like “This Perfect Day” by Ira Levin, but simpler. There are similarities-the communist, all controlling society, the sheeplike citizens-in this Perfect Day they are called “members” of the “family” and drugged on a monthly basis to rid them of any independent thought or curiosity about what “really” happened in the past-called “pre-U” for before the Unification.

I didn’t find “The Giver” very believable, but I still get the creeps every time I read This Perfect Day-both books have happy endings, though...

Happy ENDINGS?

The books cost 20 bucks extra?

Sorry about your lousy experience with Best Buy, I have had not so good dealings too.

Since I wrote those rants, I have cancelled the oder on the LGs. My husband (the engineer) looked under the machine to satisfy his curiosity and found that the drain hose is fastened in three places with the wimpiest, finger spring clamps. And the outlet pipe that they are supposed to be secured to is very short (less than 1/2 “) and has no ridges, or nipples, to help hold the hose on. This is a ridiculous design.

So, the machines are going back, and I’m looking for another set. I think that I have located one by Whirlpool (better connections) that meets my criteria. And the set is 1/2 the prices of the LGs. I may buy it today.

I have had good luck with Maytag, also Whirlpool.

Good luck to you, nothing more frustrating than a washing machine or dryer that does not run as expected. Any machine for that matter.

When in doubt buy what you know works-when my Whirlpool quits, I’ll get another one with no extras and be just as happy...

My 1st husband was a PE, too and he never bought an appliance without examining the workings-like yours did, afraidfor-and I learned not to buy the appliance with the fancy stuff, because it just breaks first and fast.

I think you made the best choice...

Books are generally less expensive than going to a movie-the nearest theater is more than 35 miles, so add gas for a 70 mile round trip to the cost of a ticket and snacks-and almost everyone drives a truck or SUV-you won’t get out for less than $20, never mind that the book is almost always more enjoyable...

I didn’t pay $20 bucks for either book, shipping included, from B&N-and yesterday, when books were being discussed, I ordered Bernard Cornwell’s new one that will be out in October from Amazon UK-for less than $20....
