Since I wrote those rants, I have cancelled the oder on the LGs. My husband (the engineer) looked under the machine to satisfy his curiosity and found that the drain hose is fastened in three places with the wimpiest, finger spring clamps. And the outlet pipe that they are supposed to be secured to is very short (less than 1/2 “) and has no ridges, or nipples, to help hold the hose on. This is a ridiculous design.

So, the machines are going back, and I’m looking for another set. I think that I have located one by Whirlpool (better connections) that meets my criteria. And the set is 1/2 the prices of the LGs. I may buy it today.

I have had good luck with Maytag, also Whirlpool.

Good luck to you, nothing more frustrating than a washing machine or dryer that does not run as expected. Any machine for that matter.

When in doubt buy what you know works-when my Whirlpool quits, I’ll get another one with no extras and be just as happy...

My 1st husband was a PE, too and he never bought an appliance without examining the workings-like yours did, afraidfor-and I learned not to buy the appliance with the fancy stuff, because it just breaks first and fast.

I think you made the best choice...
