Did alimony kill Robin Williams?
At least in part it sure did. Paying out over $30 million to ex-wives who were allowed to attach themselves to Williams bank account like comatose patients on feeding tubes would be enough to make Gandhi angry and depressed.
While states are finally, gradually catching up to the modern age in terms of alimony (now they call it maintenance as in high maintenance) the practice of men paying women because they once were married is not just primitive but, yes, sexist.
Yeah, go ahead, call me anti-feminist, call me whatever you want, but the truth is alimony (which is different from child support and fair distribution of assets acquired during the marriage) doesnt mean the non-working spouse is entitled to live as high as the Kardashians. Its that concept that is fundamentally anti-feminist.
No, Im not talking out of my head. Im talking as a formerly divorced, unemployed woman who didnt ask for alimony, just a fair amount of child support for our then-2-year-old daughter, which never happened anyway.

Yikes! My ex had issues with pain pills post-surgery and it escalated from there. Rehab & marriage counseling didn’t stick; he was just phoning it in.
Mine found a new ‘mark’ as soon as the ink was dry on our divorce papers, proving that some women consider ‘Prince Charming’ to be a broke bum with no prospects, addicted to Oxy and losing his teeth due to the abuse of opiates.
In his (minor) defense - he didn’t start out that way - but he also wasn’t interested in getting better, either.

I just finished in May my alimony sentence to my ex wife.
After 8 years of $1,200 per month she had the audacity to tell me when it was over that I should consider giving her at least $500 for the rest of her life since I “could afford it”

Sheesh......
You do know that he was a USO regular? He visited the troops overseas dozens of times.
That is $500/month for the rest of her life.....
Then the man should provide 50 percent of the cost of upkeep for the children till they reach legal age.
Yes, and the Fuehrer was kind to dogs and Il Duce made the trains run on time.
Sage words of wisdom.
Its proving the co-habitation thats the problem. Her boyfriend ‘sleeps over’ a lot.
Those are irrelevant details. They are comparable to his comedy routines mocking politicians (something virtually all comedians do) when compared to his support of our servicemen overseas.
A sharp lawyer can make one bullet proof.
