This Sunday, Aug. 17, is National Black Cat Appreciation Day, a time to recognize the fine features of these felines and to encourage the adoption of black cats.
A black cat is not a specific breed. The Cat Fanciers Association allows solid black coloring in 22 of its recognized breeds. The only breed with all-black felines is the Bombay, produced by mating a Burmese with a black American shorthair.

Every black cat I've known has been a sweetheart...very loving and affectionate. It's hard to believe people still harbor leftover superstitions about them.

Thesew are attributes of my Tuxedo Cat....he’s the sweetest animal I’ve ever known of....doesn’t bite or use his claws against anyone.....his only vice is that he’s a glutton....he frantically eats his food and part of my other cat’s. He weighs 22 lbs at least.
