I think New Orleans is a friendly town. We may shoot you but it’s not because we don’t like you! Plus, our food is pretty great.

Wow, three of the most unfriendly cities are in France.

Coincidence? I think not.

The friendliest big city I’ve been to is Chicago.

I have traveled frequently by RV over the last 30 years and I can attest that the unfriendliest people in the US live on both coasts.

It seems that the closer you get to Texas the friendlier people get and Houston, for some reason, seems to be the epicenter.

I can't explain it.

Charleston, SC is the 4th friendliest city in the world? What a joke! Try having a northern accent there and see how friendly they are.

Interestly, I didn’t find Paris to be particularly unfriendly... like any typical large city, people seemed to be in a hurried rush, but they were reasonably cordial. Chicago is the worst I’ve ever experienced.

Simple solution: Don’t be a yankee.

I can agree with that. I have a friend who lives uptown (in the Irish Channel); he showed me a crime map of the city a few months ago. You could easily see which areas to avoid and which ones to stick to.

Those snobs don't like anyone "from off".

Friendly doesn’t necessarily mean inclusive. Most Southerners I’ve met have been cordial, but maintain a (justifiable?) distrust of Yankees. It saddens me, but I can’t really blame them.

“It seems that the closer you get to Texas the friendlier people get and Houston, for some reason, seems to be the epicenter.”

I suppose. My most notable experience with Houston was filling up my rental car prior to return at a gas station near Hobby.

I was standing there where 3-4 sons of Obama drove by in a car with open windows, several screamed “Jooooooo” and threw a red slushie out the window that completely covered me.

I had no other clothes. The TSA hassled me and really did their best to not let me go through security.
