When Texas gas station clerk Mayura Dissanyake saw his colleague being attacked by two men, the trained mixed martial arts professional unleashed his fury.
Security footage shows him running to his co-worker's defense outside Fuel Depot in Houston before laying into the alleged attackers with moves honed through years of cage fighting.
'The first guy I saw, I just kicked him in the face,' the native Sri Lankan told Click 2 Houston. 'Then I punched the other guy.'

If Fuel Depot's insurance contract requires that employees not resist, I bet you're right. However, a good case could be made that this guy was just defending his co-worker, not trying to protect Fuel Depot's property. That might help.

While that hospital might have a policy of forbidding firearms, I doubt that the hospital's insurance specifically forbids employees from carrying firearms or resisting attacks. So the hospital board of directors might be able to say, "We do have a no-gun policy, but we're not going to enforce it this time." without violating any contracts.
