A pregnant Michigan teenager was strangled and her boyfriend was decapitated after apparently connecting with a stranger through the online service Craigslist for a sexual encounter, police said Monday.
The police chief in Wyoming, a Grand Rapids suburb, said that 18-year-old Brooke Slocum was held captive before her death. Her body was found Thursday in the trunk of the suspect's car. She was eight months pregnant.
Chief James Carmody says her boyfriend, Charles Oppenneer, 25, was found decapitated in a park a day earlier. His head hasn't been found...
Police got a search warrant for (31-year-old Brady) Oestrike's home, and he fled. He fatally shot himself after crashing his car, after which police found Slocum's body...

Likely there was nothing on his body indicating a cause of death. Thus leaving the head as the culprit, so to speak.

Could be she had already thrown her life away. Pregnant and going around to an annonymus sex romp while being watched by her so called boyfriend. Something tells me the killer was involved in his own version of satanism. Or he could have been a provider of meth. The violence and destruction is overwhelming.

Greg Slocum said his daughter would do anything to keep her new family together, “no matter what it took — and she paid the ultimate price for it.”
“Even to meet men on Craigslist to make some money because her boyfriend was manipulative,” he said. “She would put herself through hell just to make sure her family didn’t get divorced.”
He said he found letters that she wrote to her unborn child. In them, she talked about why she met men through Craigslist to have sex.
“She wanted to be loved,” Greg Slocum said.
He had caught her once an warned her of the dangers of meeting strangers for sex, but she was a teen with a mind of her own.
