Lee McDougal saved his Golden Retriever from an alligator attack.
WOFL reports that the alligator attacked the dog when McDougal was out walking her. With all the rain the swamp area filled up a little more, she decided to jump in on the swamp side, instead of the lagoon side, and the gator didnt want to share it with her, McDougal explained to the station. I reached down to grab her and grabbed the gator and just jerked him up, and when I did, I seen a big head and she went back that way and as soon as I seen her go back, I let the gator go and then I was stuck in the mud, so I pushed her up on the bank and crawled up myself and got out of there. McDougal and her 4-year-old dog, Wilowe, both walked home before heading to the veterinarian.
Wilowe received over 25 stitches and is recovering from her deep puncture wounds.
McDougal was asked if he ever hesitated to save his dog. I really didnt think anything, he explaed to WOFL. Its like anything you love, you dont want to be hurt. It was no thought process other than, Oh no no no!
McDougal has lived in Florida his whole life and knows wildlife is just a part of living in the area. Theyre around! Its their environment, youre juts visiting, he said.

Fortunately, nobody on FR is silly enough to try this with a bear...
I assume the cops didn’t show up for a while, cause the dog is still alive.
People are strange. I once knew a young woman who drowned trying to “save” here dog from drowning when it fell out of a boat. She jumped in and struggled trying to push it into the boat and went under. The dog swam to the shore.
Yes there are still people stupid enough to allow their pets to roam and swim in area’s where the Apex predator can weigh over 500 lbs.
LOL
Go ahead and laugh at us hillbillies, now.
Nothing in our swamps but snapping turtles and leeches.
;D
The great Mugsy!
I am shocked this cat hasn’t been more of a sensation. He certainly is on “Bad Dog”!
;)
What a sweet dog and brave lady. Bless their hearts.
