When Paul Reveres alarm, The Redcoats are coming!, was sounded through the countryside centuries ago, it was made to people who were prepared to meet a challenge. Whether the coming challenge in our present day is one of economics or something else, will you be prepared to respond when the alarm is sounded? Here are some ideas you should consider as you get started in your preparations for whatever hard times might await:

Found one in church. Marrying her was the second biggest mistake of my life...
OK, the first was staying married to her
BTW I am totally serious about the two or three quarts of non detergent motor oil. Also get one of those little cans which allow you to squeeze a lever for a few drops.
There are a few airguns which require special oils but even those can get by with the motor oil. For most guns and air guns the motor oil is about the best thing for them. The motor oil is even more versatile than 3in1 oil.
Also a couple of spray cans of molybdenum di sulphide lubricant. plus the best quality of moly grease with the most moly you can get.
“My father was born in 1925, had to work as a hired man from the age of 12, later was in the CCC and then the Marines for 20 years.”
The kids today don’t have a clue-—and I’m including my grandkids in that statement.

damn straight. and if anyone thinks we aren’t doing reparations called any number of things, they’re not seeing reality.
Of course there is. It involves zombies. You're gonna say that zombies aren't real, aren't you? Hah! Those are the first guys they eat.
OKOK, you've got a point. The problem is that the multiplicity of perfectly imaginable scenarios means that prepping for as many of them as possible looks exactly like prepping for the Big One, whatever that might be imagined to be. (And it involves zombies). You'll probably only ever use a small piece of what it is you've stashed but it may be that that small piece makes the difference between life and death. Staying inside during a hurricane because you've stashed extra insulin instead of having to go outside to try to get it is only one example. Little things can make big differences but you'd have to have a crystal ball to see which ones you'll need.
And that crystal ball...will show zombies.
In the story about the Boy Who Cried Wolf.....the wolf finally arrived.
He who has ears...let him hear.
I just bought a Gamo Whisper Fusion Pro pellet rifle. Those dang squirrels that have been eating my peaches are toast.
There are a number of them. You should have felt the tension during the early 1980s as many of us knew that we were in a window where the Soviets had to make their move, or else lose that window for many years.
One that we lived under for generations and that will come to the fore front again, is a widespread nuclear war, the planet and growing seasons can still be affected by an asteroid, or a series of volcanoes, or a Carrington event.
History isn’t over, and humans still need to think of war, and pestilence and failed cosmic events.
So far, in my lifetime I have never regretted being prepared, and I have never wasted my food stocks and prepping gear, it has always been incorporated into my life.
I’m thinking of putting together a cheap 10 food supply list for people that are just never going to get around to storing any food, for instance a high paid single female, downtown condo dweller, that has almost no food in her house except for a few expensive health things, and lives mostly on take out.
I’m thinking of something that they can keep in a single box buried away for five years and then give it to someone (like a single man), or pitch it every five years if they are wired that way, and an easy list that they can replace themselves.
For example:
10 cans tuna
5 cans pork and beans
5 cans chili
10 cans corn and/or peas
2 boxes instant rice
2 large jars of peanut butter
2 cases bottled water
After talking to people about this stuff for decades, I know there are some that just never get around to it. With this simple list they don’t invest much money, and they can just replace it with the same listed items every 5 years.
For the kind of people I’m talking about, they don’t eat these foods usually, they don’t care about wasting $45 every five years, and they are not going to shop and rotate, and so on, so talking to them doesn’t help, you pretty much have to just assign them something.
To me, a list similar to this would be something to give them some extended self sufficiency, assuming they have some things in their cupboard, refrigerator and freezer, it should help them deal with a couple of weeks delay in services.
“I suggest you read the article on normalcy bias you might find it enlightening.”
No he wont.
He’s one of these people that no matter what they will simply refuse to believe we have a president and his political party whose intent is to destroy the country so they can rebuild it to a Socialist Utopian dream world.
Don’t you know, the left wing freaks in this country are different than the left wing freaks in other countries.
The left wing freaks in this country are good people only doing what’s good for the country and the people, they’re not seeking absolute power like the left wing freaks in other countries.
Try more like 22%. If we did not have unemployment insurance, food stamps etc it would be 1932 to the 10th power. People would literally be starving.
The website forgot to mention one of the most vital components: a napalm-proof, nuclear-bomb-proof, radiation-proof bunker/vault. Whether or not the attacks come from the Hussein Administration against conservatives, an arrogant Vladimir Putin, or loan shark Chinese, the likelihood of such an attack is very high.
Someone could make a lot of money and save a lot of lives if they opened several such vaults across America. Just make sure that the person running the vault doesn’t try to use the vault dwellers for experiments.
Unfortunately, the next 5 1/2 years will be much, much worse.
Fair enough, but still hard to believe.
You don’t miss him?
You must be living in an alternate universe.
As mentioned above, Augason Farms is a dehydrated/freeze-dried food company...but it can get expensive. Your best bet is to go directly to the Augason website and buy from them WHEN it’s on sale. The Isite has a “deal of the day” every day...one product that’s on sale for about 30% off. That can come in handy for case purchases - one item...not so much.
They also have big sales occasionally. Right now there’s a 40% off sale on 30 different items. That ends tonight. They have other sales too, on a regular basis. They add reasonable shipping.
Prices are never reasonable for this kind of good, but judicious purchasing during these sales can save you money.
Besides Wal-Mart’s...I think Sam’s, BJ’s and maybe even Kmart sells Augason.
Well we have 309 million people and only 140 million work. 34% of the people over 16 don’t work. I think there are 92 million people of working age not working. Its really pretty frightening to think what will happen when the dollar finally dies and the economic collapse happens.
Yes, I need to do the math. Unfortunately the statistics we get from the feckless fool on the hill gang never make sense. Hard to draw a conclusion for the final score when the game rules change by the minute. We are in a planned mess.
