It's 2014. We should be well beyond the "women can't drive" sexism. But at one Chinese shopping mall, this clearly isn't the case.
At the Dashijiedaduhui or "World Metropolis" centre in the northern port city of Dalian, there are now parking spaces designated for women outside its main entrance.
Marked in pink and about 30 cm wider than the average parking spots, signs above them read: "Respectfully reserved for women."
"We just wanted to make things easier for women, who make up most of our customers," said mall manager Yang Hongjun, a woman herself.

Saudi Arabia hasn’t started this yet, but if they ever get a female driver, perhaps they will consider it, it makes for less of a walk in high heels and tight, short skirts.
These women-only parking spots are super-scrawny, leaving barely enough room to open the door. I’d hate to have to park in a regular spot.
Good Lord - women will complain about anything! Perhaps the reasoning behind this was that often women are getting children out of car seats and could use a little more room to open the door....or it was a more respectful way for a woman wearing a dress to exit a vehicle if there was more room to swing her legs out.... or, oh hell, we all know it is because they can’t park worth a damn.
Agreed. The problem doesn’t seem that the women’s spaces are too large, but rather that the men’s spaces are too small!
Might help. Nothing else so far has made them drive even halfway safe in the Costco parking lot. Mostly Chinese women driving lexuses/Lexi. Maybe it’s the Japanese origin of the vehicle but these ladies drive like kamakazi bombers.
The problem in the US is that practically everyone is driving a giant SUV, while parking spots are Honda Civic sized.
You have to realize that not very many Chinese grew up in cars like we did! Some of my earliest memories are watching my Dad drive the ‘49 Chevy. Then, when I was about 8/9, my Grandfather would sit me on his lap, and let me steer the big Olds. Very few Chinese have had this experience. Most of my Chinese friends are very cautious drivers.
That’s in my local Walmart parking lot. Now where am I supposed to put my 15-passenger van?
LOL!
Well, ya can’t complain if she drives into the house!

She was trying to do so with three empty spaces behind the car she pulled along side of.
I had a woman on Newbury street in Boston ask me to parallel park her car as she was getting so frustrated and people behind her were losing their mind. I was just sitting on the steps of a pizza joint having a smoke watching her park. Rather than get inside her car I coached her every step of the way
“ now turn the wheel all the way to the right! “
” Now all the way to the left! “ etc. until she had pulled it off.
Glad you liked it.
where i live parking lots fit f-150s just fine.
it’s the jerks who can’t seem to line themselves up properly that cause problems.
You’re fortunate.
the only thing on the road that scares me more is a female driver behind the wheel of a minivan.
