Definitely.
The first RoboCop and the original (Romero’s?) Night of the Living Dead were both filmed in Dallas. NOT saying they would make top 25, but NOTLD was pretty scary for its time. Two low budget b/w movies were also made around the Lake Dallas area (now Lake Lewisville); one with packs of dogs wearing shaggy costumes and sporting long teeth (I can’t recall the name).
Indian Paint, with Johnny Crawford as an Indian boy and Rory Calhoun, was filmed around the Mountain Creek area of Dallas. I was the apartment manager of a large complex when the owner allowed the Director and several others doing the film, Rory Calhoun, etc., to live in some of the apartments FREE while they were shooting the film. .....Calhoun was a full blown alcoholic and was drunk 24/7, so it was difficult to get him to do his scenes right.
I loved Romero’s original Night of the Living Dead.
Of course, I saw it way back in college with a GORGEOUS date, so....
Rory had problems throughout his life. Many exacerbated by alcohol.
He started our at Preston School of Industry in Ione CA, part of the Cal Youth Authority (notice CYA), then moved on to San Quentin and federal prison, all before age 21.
We (CYA) used to count I’m as one of our success stories.
