Where the hell did you get that idea, 'they live in our community' ?!? The hell they do. They live in neighboring jurisdictions or somewhere outside of their regular beat, by-and-large, because they don't want to be confronted by those they might have arrested, or the families of those they may have committed grievous harm to. A parking ticket or a pot bust is one thing, but if they're predisposed to using excessive force and/or firearms, they don't want to be caught in a supermarket in jeans and a T-shirt when the owner of said dead dog or father of comatose son comes rolling down the aisle. Fists and canned goods are going to be flying hot and heavy. I saw it twice in my neighborhood in just a dozen years, and both times the cops pulled up stakes and moved again. You'd think the silly bastards would police themselves if for no other reasons than for their PR image, but the courts allow them to get away with it, the DOJ turns a blind eye, and now brownshirt LEOs are making it harder to determine who the Officer Friendly types are in our own neighborhoods. Grassroots community policing is DEAD. Gruppenführer Holder made sure of that when everyone to the right of Jerry Garcia was declared a potential domestic terrorist.

We have the solution to King George III's dilemma about quartering his army on the colonials:

Pay the troops $30-$40 an hour from taxpeasant money from the property tax "King's Rent", and give the NSA, Homeland Security, and local law enfarcement the ability to monitor the homes of the peasants from the outside.

Make sure the peasants have "Dancing With American Idol Stars" and Monday Night Fuuuuuutball.

Done deal.
