It should be noted the Life with Archie series is very much in the vein of DC Comics' Elseworlds or Marvel Comics' What If? publications--essentially an alternate reality from the normal continuity of the comic. As such, it really doesn't affect the current continuity of the other Archie Comics titles.

Chalk this up as the last, desperate gasp for attention of a medium that has been dying for a while and is not just about dead. No one reads comics anymore so this is their way of going out on what they believe to be a “feel good” note, although its sad to see how vapid and trendy that “feel good” note is — the cause of the day. Its a sad end for a long-running series that was popular at a time.
