No. Keep law enforcement balkanized. You do NOT want to concentrate power.

The ATF was always a trailer-park trash outfit from the very beginning. They literally had nothing to do after the end of Prohibition. Tobacco and firearms were rolled in to give them something to do. They have the lowest standards of any federal law enforcement agency. The dumber and more corrupt you are, the easier it is to get in.

I just like the idea of thousands of unemployed ATF NAZIs.

LOL Well. There IS that. I like the way you think.
To be honest, I thought he was advocating combining it with another Agency. And while that does result in a little downsizing, the usual result is more centralized police power.
To: RC one
Just make them into the “AT”, let them keep their badges and pull their guns.
Make them into an entity that attends to tobacco and booze paperwork matters.

I'm always happy to destroy a department of the leviathan government.
Constitutionally, the feds have no business dealing with alcohol, tobacco, or firearms at all. Let the IRS handle the tax issues. Police powers belong at the state level, never at the federal government level.
Concentrate it, and kill it (metaphorically speaking).

Is every one forgetting that it is, and has been the BATFE for a long time now.
They also get to control and kill you for possession of any explosives or their components.

I’m sure the FBI wouldn’t mind enforcing the law on explosives in conjunction with state and local law enforcement.

No. Keep law enforcement balkanized. You do NOT want to concentrate power. What a stupid statement. They are just different arms of the same concentrated power coming at you from different directions.

ATF is just a dumping ground for losers who aren’t smart enough for any other govt. agency.
To: RC one
There was talk of this when Congress investigated ATF and the Ken Ballew case. ATF was not disbanded because no other federal agency would take ANY former ATF agents. They were that low on the federal LEO food chain. Nothing has changed in 45 years.

The money could hire 10,000 new Border Patrol officers
